Porcelain or Ceramic: What Is the Difference?
Porcelain is a type of ceramic tile with very low water absorption. It is generally denser and harder than non-porcelain ceramic tile, making it a popular choice for floors, including larger formats, and shower areas.
Ceramic tile ranges from delicate decorative wall collections to products made for everyday floor use.
Start with the intended use shown on the box or in the manufacturer’s specifications: wall, floor or both. Also check the guidance for wet areas. Some products have restrictions on shower use, but that does not rule out ceramic tile as a whole.
